Inline reads the draft and puts questions beside the passages they refer to, so you can see where to revise.

Timing depends on your draft and whether the server is already running. The first request after a quiet period can take a few minutes.

Keep the page open while Inline works.

Inline saves while you work. Open Documents to return to a draft. If saving fails, keep the tab open and retry before closing it.

With revision history enabled, open the draft menu and choose Revision history. Compare saved versions, see what changed, or restore an earlier version while keeping the current one in your history.

Choose Export, then Open in Google Docs. Inline copies the draft and opens a blank Google Doc; you paste it there.

This does not sync the two documents or transfer your Inline history.

Not yet. Professors and students use the Inline web app directly. LMS integration is planned, but there is no confirmed launch date.

Yes. Use Brainstorming with your ideas or starting material. Inline asks questions that help you find a direction, explore your argument, and decide what to write next.

You write the sentences yourself.

Free includes drafts up to 1,000 words, with 2 runs per day and 8 per week. Pro adds revision history, drafts up to 8,000 words, and higher limits.

During the pilot, a participating professor must invite you to Pro.

Inline is built to give questions and brief observations, not replacement paragraphs. You make the decisions and write each revision.

This keeps the practice of building an argument with the student.

No. It gives you feedback while you are writing, including between classes and tutoring appointments.

Bring the draft and the questions you still have to your professor or writing center.

In a regular chat, feedback can become a wall of text: you have to find each passage, decide what the advice means, and move between the chat and your draft.

Asking for help can also turn into asking for rewrites. Inline puts short questions beside the exact passages, keeps your drafts and feedback together, and lets your professor review that progression when you submit.

Inline runs an existing AI model and plans to fine-tune it rather than train one from scratch. That still uses electricity.

We have not yet measured energy, water use, or emissions per feedback run, so we cannot give a reliable footprint figure.

You can disagree with the feedback. Check it against your argument, assignment, and sources, and rate the question in the app.

If you are unsure, ask your professor or writing tutor. You do not need to follow every suggestion.

No. Inline helps you revise; your professor grades the work. A question about evidence does not mean Inline has checked the source.

Read the source yourself and make sure it supports your claim.

Check the course policy or ask your professor first. Explain that Inline asks questions about your writing and you make the revisions.

Follow the course’s rules for using and disclosing AI.

Your drafts stay private until you submit. Joining a class or linking an assignment does not share them.

A submission includes that draft, all retained saved versions, all saved feedback and Brainstorming questions, and recorded writing-activity totals.

You preview the complete copy and its teaching recipients first. Other documents and later edits stay private.

A process report is a separate sharing link. It starts with dates, word counts, and change totals; you can choose to add activity totals, saved draft text, and saved feedback.

Older versions may contain text you deleted. You preview the report, choose an expiry of 30 days or less, and can revoke it. Later edits are not added.

It does not prove authorship or AI use.

No. Inline saves drafts in your account so you can return to them and processes them to give feedback.

Product drafts are never used to train models or sent to third-party AI services. Separate research requires its own consent.

The plan is for institutional licenses to fund student access. You do not pay with your writing: app drafts are never training data, and using Inline does not require joining a study.

The planned study would collect essays, grades, and professor feedback from students who explicitly agree.

Names and other direct identifiers are removed from material prepared for model development. Using the app does not enroll you or add your drafts to the study.

Through a separate approved study with written consent. Before deciding, participants receive the study’s purpose, permitted uses, any compensation, and withdrawal terms.

Classroom use and research participation are separate choices.

Access must follow the study’s approved protocol. Its consent notice names the researcher and explains who can see identifying information.

Consent records are kept separate from material prepared for model development.

Contact the researcher named in your consent form. The form explains removal deadlines and any limits after data has been used to train a model.

Leaving a study is separate from deleting an app draft or withdrawing a course submission.
